Dynamic DFMA Inc. undertook the challenge of transforming a three-story atrium at Sheridan College’s Magna Skilled Trades Centre into an architectural masterpiece. The project centered on the installation of a custom, precision-cut metal façade and integrated LED lighting to enhance the atrium’s interior, particularly at night.
To ensure absolute accuracy, our team began by performing a 3D scan of the entire atrium, creating a digital twin of the as-built interior. This allowed us to capture precise measurements, essential for custom panel fabrication. Additional surveys were conducted to assess the sprinkler system’s variable head offsets, which required unique adjustments for each panel to maintain compliance and uniformity.
With this data, our team meticulously laid out all custom panels and details, developing a complete set of shop drawings to guide fabrication and installation. In partnership with Complex Finishes Inc., we manufactured and installed a robust sub-girt system, discrete LED lighting, and the custom metal panels. The result is a stunning atrium space, where dynamic lighting and meticulously aligned metalwork create a breathtaking visual impact, particularly after dark.
